Why Medicare?

As we age, our healthcare needs often change. Medicare helps ensure you have access to quality healthcare coverage when you need it most. Here are some key reasons why Medicare is important:

Peace of Mind

Knowing you have health insurance coverage can be a huge weight off your shoulders. Medicare helps protect you from unexpected medical bills.

Focus on wellness

Medicare covers preventive care services like screenings and vaccinations, allowing you to focus on staying healthy.

Choice and flexibility

Medicare offers different plan options to fit your specific needs and budget.

What is Medicare?

Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people 65 and older, as well as younger individuals with certain disabilities. It consists of two main parts:

Part A (Hospital Insurance)

Covers inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing facility care, hospice care, and home healthcare services.

Part B (Medical Insurance)

Covers doctor visits, outpatient care, medical equipment, and some preventive services.

There are also additional parts to Medicare, like Part D (prescription drug coverage) and Part C (Medicare Advantage plans offered by private companies).

Who is Eligible for Medicare?

Most people become eligible for Medicare automatically at age 65 if they are already receiving Social Security benefits. You may also qualify for Medicare earlier if you:

Have a disability and receive Social Security disability benefits for 24 months.

Have End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) requiring dialysis or a transplant.

Have Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
